tica trend winter 2011 - 2012

The beauty of imperfection is rising in antithesis to the digital era. From one point of view the computer, by means of social media, keeps us in contact with old friends and helps us making new friends. Besides all this there is also a need for romance and for handmade accessories. Tradition is trendy, just like lace, ribbon and cross-stitches are. The "I-era" is changing into "we", into doing things together. For example, making plans to create something together. Only the anticipatory pleasure gives already enormous fun, but buying home-made crocheted or knitted accessories is also a good option. As long as they adhere to the handmade look. The tendency for vintage returns in mixes of old and new furniture-pieces. The white painted- and white varnished wood combines perfectly with retro prints and embroidery. Billboard collages with (child's) drawings and pictures are very poular and easy to make by using decorative masking tape. Extremely amusing and natural above all.

Other people look for exclusive pieces: antique, ornamental, somewhat oriental. Collecting is unequally popular. Beautiful in the subdivisions of enlarged type cases or just displayed on a tray. Original stuff forming Still Life. Made of different materials, personally gathered together. In this way a house becomes a home. Mindfulness and spirituality play an even bigger role. Emphasizing the beauty of nature as well as its stillness. A permanent eye for detail. It wasn't for nothing that eco-design turned out to be the most important trend at the Milan Design Fair – this awareness surpasses the sole matter of styling: it is the common theme running through them all.
